Summer time is fun here at Sonshine. We are exploring the Camping Theme this week. The kids created their own camp environment using classroom items and re-purposing them. They used our rubber mats to make tents and paper towel rolls and tissue paper to make a campfire. We had story time with lights off and used flashlights, learned the song "I'm Going on a Bear Hunt" (adapted by authors Litwin and Levine) and made Smores with a real campfire. We used this opportunity to cover fire safety with the children as well.
Sonshine has offered classes year-round for over 25 years. Summer time allows for more extended experiences and for more outside learning to occur.
