Ever since I was 15 I knew I was going to be a preschool teacher.  I took a child development course in high school that actually had preschoolers from the area come in. Each of us had our own preschooler that we assisted.  That is my favorite class of all time . I started working with preschool aged children  at the church I attended as Sunday School teacher, Children's Church Leader and eventually Sunday School Superintendent. All the while,  I pursued a career in Early Childhood Education.  I received my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development at Kansas City Kansas Community College and went on to Fort Hays State University for my Bachelor of Arts.  I opened Sonshine Early Education Center in 1991 and we are still going strong today.  Throughout the years of working with children at Sonshine and my church, I realized there were many children without access to quality early education. in 2008,  I developed The Teaching Literacy for Christ Program.  It is a free preschool program for low-income families and it too is still operating today.  It is my belief that all children deserve a quality early education and the opportunity to start Kindergarten excited and confident about the next step in their education.
